Or wanted to add some books to your “TO READ” list but felt too lazy to write its paragraph-like title on your notepad?
The App

Though the app store have had some alternatives for this functionality, a new app called Red Laser, claims to shine out thanks to its improved usability. It’s been developed by a bunch of developers who call themselves Occipital, and believe it or not, it even has a developer API!

So.. What can i actually do something useful with this barcode scanner?

Feel free to abuse this ideas;

Scan the rare-quality-but-hard-to-tell-coffe-brand you worship, add it to your grocery list, and prevent your boyfriend to buy something wrong next time!

Skype for iPhone has been released yesterday becoming an instant hit, entering the list of most downloaded apps immediately. The application is free and is available from the App Store.

We should remind that this version can only make Skype-to-Skype calls with Wi-Fi connections, not over 3G. However it is possible to chat and sign in over 3G/EDGE/GPRS connection.

The reviews for the app reflect the fact that it has bugs and is not working for everybody: 45% of the users have given it 5 stars, and 40% of the users have given it only 1 star. Reported problems are crashing (upon launching Skype, application immediately exists and user returns to springboard) and frequently dropped calls.

DoiPhone blog just came across Pikkoo: A community for mobile screensavers and wallpapers 2.o; and we are stunned- they let you find and create kick-ass wallpapers without needing to draw anything or present any artistic effort, for free!

Pikkoo has a bunch of cool themes (you need to sign up to see them) created by artists, so you just go ahead and drag and drop different elements to create your piece of art.

After creating you can publish your wallpaper in the Gallery, where you find other cool wallpapers for iPhone as well as other mobile phones.

Getting these wallpapers to your iPhone is super easy. After signing up, under each wallpaper the system will show you a short code. Go to pikkoo.com with your iPhone and enter that code there. When you get the wallpaper, just tap on it longer, and choose “Set as wallpaper” from the options.

Best of all, all of this is FREE!

You can head over to Pikkoo and check out the cool wallpapers in the Gallery, or create one of your own!

Ripdev has released Installerapp which makes it easier to make use of Jailbroken apps on the iPhone. It was alleged to install those apps without Jailbreaking, but upon inspection we found out that it first Jailbreaks the device before installing the apps.

So it essentially does what QuickPWN did for free for $7. But it does has a manager too to keep track of the Jailbroken apps (just like iTunes would do so for installed apps). Installerapp supports both the Installer and the Cydia repositories.

Seems like the developer community is moving further and further to create a viable solution to Apple’s locked iTunes App Store system.

Type this in the Terminal:

curl -s -L http://phobos.apple.com/version | grep -i carrier

This displays a long list of files. You need to find the appropriate file for your operator. Download this file.

Open your Downloads folder and find the bundle file you just downloaded. (Or if the folder existed already, the correct bundle file). Right click on it and select Show package contents.

Open Info.plist and change CFBundleVersion to 5.0. Save and exit.

Open version.plist and change the CFBundleVersion to 5.0. Save and exit.

Open carrier.plist

Find the array called apns, add a new dictionary with the following data:

apn = internet
password = password
username = iphone

Find the array starting with wap and add a new pair. Don’t touch the username and password!

type-mask = (NUMBER) -2

Go to the root of the dictionary and add this pair:

AllowEDGEEditing = (BOOLEAN)

When you are done with all 3 files, go up in the Finder until you reach the .bundle file you downloaded. Right click on it and compress it. Rename this ZIP to ipcc.

Plug your iPhone on, option+click on the update button. Select the ipcc you just created. When your iPhone boots you will see Tethering in Settings / General / Network!

Pair your iPhone with your computer.

After you have done the pairing, click the B icon next to the clock to open the Bluetooth menu. Here you should see your iPhone. Click on it and choose Conect to Network.

Done!

The developer of the iPhone game lights off, Steve troughton, uncowered in a tweet that he got access to the option:

Here is the screen that comes up in the phone:

We will post instructions soon about how to make use of it!
